Fruit Fly Freebie

Queensland Fruit Fly has become a major problem for home gardeners and fruit growers alike, with the pest spreading further each year. If you’ve struggled with fruit fly in your garden this summer, you’re not alone.

Join Bronwyn Koll, Fruit Fly Prevention Officer for Agribusiness in the Yarra Valley, for this free one-hour session on practical ways to prevent and manage Queensland Fruit Fly (QFF). Bronwyn will explain how coordinated action between home gardeners, commercial growers, councils and community groups can help achieve effective “Area Wide Management” of QFF.

This presentation will cover integrated pest management techniques and the practical use of traps, baiting, netting, hygiene and other tools to target key stages of the fruit fly lifecycle. There is no single solution, so understanding the pest and applying a combination of approaches is essential.

The session will also explore how best-practice fruit fly management can help protect beneficial insects, including native pollinators and other species that support healthy gardens and agriculture.

All sessions are recorded and those booked in will receive the recording link which is active for two weeks.
